"A Child Called 'It'"

Friday October 15, 2004
One child's story of survival, "A Child Called 'It'" takes you through Dave Pelzer's abuse by his alcoholic mother up to the day he enters the foster care system in 1973. Part one in a series of books about his life; "A Child Called 'It'" is well worth the read - although a difficult read as the abuse is unreal in its severity. Find a review of ""A Child Called 'It'" here.

This book grabs you in and dosent let you go. You;ll almost feel exactly what the little boy feels. I read 2 of the books in one night cuz i couldn’t make myself step away from what i was seeing and feeling through the book.

I completely agree with you both, this book is haunting. Dave brings you right into his home and the abusive hell he endured as a child.

I too read it in just one day….then moved on to the next book. I still gag when I think about some of the things his mother did to him.
