A Child Called "It"

Thursday September 1, 2005
Written from the perspective of a child, "A Child Called 'It'" offers a chance to see how an abused child may perceive the treatment of an abusive mother. Even though the child abuse that Dave Pelzer endured affected David's self-worth; Dave still had this incredible will to not only survive, but to rise above it all.

Part one in a series of books about Dave Pelzer's life; A Child Called 'It'" is the incredible journey of one boy to escape one of California's worst child abuse cases.

I DON’T KNOW HOW ANY SMALL CHILD COULD HAVE ENDURED THAT KIND OF PAIN. HIS MOTHER SHOULD BE PROUD OF WHO HE IS NOW DESPITE WHAT SHE DID TO HIM TO TRY AND BREAK HIM DOWN FOREVER.

this was the must sadness book i ever read , i spend the time crying and couldnt undertand how can a mother treat a child like that. she must be very ill but still not justified someting like that. and the father for me he is worst becouse he didnt try to save his child from a very ill mother he never done nothing and he accepted seen his own son be treated like that. he is worst than her becouse she was a ill person he wasnt .
could happen 30 years ago but they should be in jail and other brother be taken from them.
dave is an ex of a mem who doenst do to the other what was done to him it meen he didnt like to be treat like that so he doent treat other the same why. congratulations the normal is treat other worst then was done to us.

This is one of the best books ever! I believe that Dave truly is an inspiration. How could he take all that all those years?? He is a very strong person! I couldn’t have taken it. Most likely, I would have broken down and told someone.

If you don’t think this kind of thing is happening here and now you are sadly mistaken folks. What gets to me is there are perfectly wonderful people who desperately want to be parents who are still being turned down for goofy reasons like previous marriages. I am an adoptee myself and would have loved to have any of these several couples for parents. The once divorced man I referenced was left by his first wife because he couldn’t give her biological children…and she gets to be a mother!
