Grand Jury Blasts Oklahoma County Adoption Judges
Monday May 29, 2006
According to a recent article on the site of an ABC affiliated television station, some couples seem to be able to purchase an infant for the price of a new car or utility bills. From the article:
- "The grand jury says under state law judges are supposed to allow only expenses which are reasonable, necessary and directly related to the needs of the birth mother. But it says in one case a couple adopting a child paid the utility and phone bills of the birth mother's relatives."

I’m saddened to hear about a Grand Jury spinning its wheels targeting potential action by the legislature. That will take forever! They need more creativity in coming up with immediate stopgap measures to deter any more of the illicit judicial behavior.
Those poor babies….
I live and surrendered in Oklahoma. I have studied adoption issues and practices in this state for several years. I can tell you that most mothers would not have even thought about exchanging ‘goods’ for their babies if it wasn’t suggested by ‘others’ in the industry. Adoption is a billion dollar industry; agencies, lawyers and facilitators are not always the maternal figures they appear to be to the public, especially to mothers considering adoption for their children. The problems in OKC are practiced throughout the state and in many other states, even nationally.
As long as the adoption industry is allowed complete control over the mothers surrendering their children, the potential adoptive parents, the ICPC,and the ear of the legislatures in Oklahoma-there will be CORRUPTION.
We paid for our birth mothers cell phone and the bail to get her boyfriend out of jail in another county and then she stopped returning our calls, went into labor and DHS took the baby from her at the hospital and we never saw her again, they did not even consider the fact that we were adopting this child.
