The 8th Annual A Home for the Holidays with Rod Stewart

Friday December 22, 2006

I received a press release announcing a program on CBS that will highlight families who have adopted from the foster care system and introduce children who are waiting for adoptive homes. Last year's program showed 12 children ages 4 - 15, all of them are in adoptive homes today and we'll probably never know the number of families influenced by last year's show. That's amazing stuff!

There are currently half a million children in foster care waiting to be adopted in the US. CBS is teaming up with Children’s Action Network and The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption to help find these children homes. The special will air Friday, December 22 (8:00-9:00 PM, ET/PT) on CBS. The families stories will be presented by a variety of performers including Cedric the Entertainer, Miley Cyrus (Hannah Montana), Angie Harmon, Melina Kanakaredes, Rene Russo and Jeri Ryan. Rod Stewart headlines this year’s show, with special performances by Katharine McPhee, John Legend, John Ondrasik from Five for Fighting and Mary Mary.

So, tune in and then come back here and tell us what you thought of the special.

I agree it was a great show. The music was beautiful and the children were so adorable. I loved hearing the stories of the families, especially of the siblings that were able to stay together after being shown on last year’s program. I was teary through most of the show.

I am sick that I missed it. Is there any way of getting a copy of this special? I am a foster/adoptive parent and would love to show this at one of our meetings for people interested in becoming foster/adoptive parents. Thanks
