In the News: Another Change in Madonna's Adoption
Penstone Kilembe, the director of Malawi's Child Welfare Services, has been removed from Madonna's case due to allegations that he sought money from her in order to make an upcoming visit to the family in London. According to reports Kilembe's successor, Simon Chisale, the country's chief social welfare officer, was due to travel and assess the family sometime this week. This is an important step in this adoption moving forward and testimony is needed in order for the Malawi courts to decide permanency for the child.
Last October temporary custody was granted to Madonna and her husband, Guy Ritchie, of then 13-month old David Banda. Baby David was placed in an orphanage by his father after the death of David's mother.
Kilembe has denied all accusations and reports state that he has plans to leave the ministry and move on to a new posting. No specific details on his job change have been reported.
I wonder how these allegations will affect this adoption?
