Hollywood Adoption Updates

Sunday September 23, 2007
It's been awhile since I've touched on some of the different Hollywood adoptions, so here it goes.
  • You may or may not have heard, but a week or so ago Madonna and family were given the green light to continue towards the adoption of little David Banda after the recent visit from Simon Chisale of the Malawi's Social Services. Chisale reported that Madonna was a "perfect mother" and baked cakes for the children during his 3-day visit. The family also works at keeping David's culture alive in the home with language lessons from native Malawian friends. Chisale noted that Madonna and daughter, Lourdes, speak to David in his native language. The little guy went to live with Madonna and Guy Ritchie in London on an interim adoption in October 2006.

  • If this continues to go well for Madonna and family, there is a little girl in Malawi named Mercy that Madonna has fallen for. The baby's mother died a few days after birth. According to reports no official adoption procedures have been started yet.

  • Yohane Banda, David's birth father in Malawi, was so excited to be expecting another baby with his new wife. Yet, it too has ended in tragedy as the baby was delivered as a still born a week ago. This is the third infant Yohane has buried. David's birth mother died a couple of weeks after delivery due to complications. Yohane thought it best if David was placed in an orphanage. This is where Madonna first met and fell in love with baby David. The rest is Hollywood adoption history.

  • Mary-Louise Parker has decided to adopt a little girl from Africa. Her co-star in The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford, Brad Pitt, reportedly applauds her decision stating that she is a "lovely mother." The actress also has a 3-year-old son, Will.
