Are odds against foster children graduating? That depends. Are odds against foster children getting foster parents who care about them and take an active role in their education?

I love the photo. As far as the question, but guess would be: yes. As a generality, obviously. Just like the odds of being born poor mean your odds of graduating are less.

Happy WW!

What is the answer, Carrie? I’m guessing maybe, yes, in general. But surely each foster child has a unique personality coupled with a different set of variables?

Unfortunately, I think the odds are against them just because of the “system.” A kid can be dedicated, but if they are moved around all the time, changing schools - therefore losing educational ground….it makes it tougher on them.

According to stats - it doesn’t look good to kids in the system graduating.

Of course, there are those who are successful in their education…and that is wonderful. There are always exceptions to the rule.
