11 Ways for Your Foster Care Agency to Maintain Fostering Families

Sunday September 7, 2008

I have a visit with our foster care social worker next week. She represents our foster care agency. During our monthly home visits we usually talk about our current foster children, but we're between placements right now. So, we'll probably talk about licensing regulations, as they have changed. (We had to buy 4 more smoke detectors and 3 carbon monoxide detectors) This meeting is also the time for me to ask questions about anything regarding foster care and decide whether or not if we're ready to take another placement. I'm not so sure. It's been nice just providing weekend respite to other fostering families out there.

We are very lucky to have such great support from our foster care agency. This got me to thinking about the things our foster care agency does to make sure we do feel supported. We have a difficult job as foster parents, so feeling supported in our efforts is important.

How does your agency stack up? What do you think needs changing? What's going great? Click "comments" below and share.
