According to the Office of Children's Issues, United States Department of State, new regulations went into effect on December 1, 2008 regarding Ukrainian adoptions. The new regulations sets guidelines for the registration of abandoned children and also describes the adoption process for intercountry adoptions. Documents needed for an adoption home study have been also changed as well as how an adoption dossier is accepted or registered with the SDAPRC or the State Department for Adoptions and Protection of Rights of the Child, which is the Ukrainian Adoption Authority.
