New legislation in Kentucky would prevent unmarried couples from fostering or adopting. Similar to the legislation that is in Arkansas, Florida, Michigan, Mississippi, Nebraska and Utah, one civil rights group is calling it an attack against gay and lesbian couples. The Family Foundation said that the legislation isn't against gay and lesbian couples because it also prevents unmarried heterosexual couples from fostering or adopting as well. According to the report, this legislation would not uproot children already placed in homes with unmarried couples. Senator Gary Tapp, Republican from Shelbyville sponsored the bill.

And this is in the best interest of the children, and helping find “good” homes for them how?
Much like in the other states that saw fit to ban loveing people gay or straight to adopt, the children in the system are being forced to stay in the system and to then age out.
This has my 100% vote of approval and I would also add a ban on single people adopting as well. And NO I am not a Christian or any religion and I am definitely NOT homophobic. I am an adoptive father and believe all children need two different sex parents as a preferred option and at least one should be the same ethnicity as the child
Andrew,
My concern is that this limits the number of homes for children. It also keeps some family members from being considered as resources. If grandma is living with her boyfriend – she would not be able to take in her grandchildren. That’s not right.
i really love this book
