It's not a new fact that adoption can be fairly costly, especially international adoption. Combine that with the tough economic times, and it's no surprise that many adoptive families are having to get even more creative with their adoptive fund raising efforts.
Many families have had success with:- Bake Sales
- Garage Sales
- Selling Items on eBay and/or Craigslist
- Adoption Grants
- Adoption Loans
My advice this Thrifty Thursday - Instead of looking at the cost of an adoption as one lump sum, which can be overwhelming, discover the estimated cost of each step along your adoption journey. For example, you may need $1500 for an adoption home study. Then put together a listing of items to post on eBay or Craigslist that may pull in that amount.
I find it easier to look at things I need to accomplish in small bites, that's the way I look at weight loss and to-do lists too. Keep it manageable and achievable.
