Madonna Is Granted a Second Adoption

Friday June 12, 2009

Well, it seems like the buzz was correct. Madonna has been granted the opportunity to adopt 3-year-old Mercy James. The Chief Justice Lovemore Munlo, read the three-judge panel's ruling very early this morning, not only overturning an earlier ruling in April that would not allow Madonna to adopt, but stated that the lower court's decision was basically - old fashioned. Malawi law states that an adopter must live in country for 18 months before finalization. No news on Mercy's adoption travel plans yet, but Madonna's attorney is working on the child's passport. The adoption will take awhile to finalize. Hopefully not as long as little David Banda's.
