Preparing for the 4th of July

Friday July 3, 2009

I love the 4th of July. We're planning a neighborhood get-together. That's what you do when one neighbor extends an invitation and then a few days later another neighbor does the same. We're popular! So, we're planning on wondering up and down our street, eating a hamburger here, home made ice cream there and getting fat!

There is also going to be a few families setting off fireworks in the middle of the street. Fireworks are just amazing to watch; I still ooh and ahh. However, not everyone may ooh and ahh this year if you have newly placed foster or adopted children in your family. Family get-togethers may be a bit much for some kids and fireworks can be loud. It may be in your child's and your family's favor to prepare your new brood before setting out for a 4th of July celebration.
