Back in October 2008, we learned that Katherine Heigl, of Grey’s Anatomy, was very interested in being a future adoptive parent. This interest in adoption was fueled by the fact that her sister was adopted from Korea. Well, the future is now as the 30-year-old star and her husband, singer Josh Kelley will be bringing home a 9 1/2 month old baby girl sometime this week. Watch the Ellen Degeneres Show tomorrow as Katherine Heigl will be a guest discussing the upcoming adoption of little Naleigh — named “after my mother and sister Nancy, Leigh."

Ms. Heigl will also discuss the loads of adoption paperwork involved in adoption as well as how this adoption did move a bit faster as Naleigh has special needs. Which is pretty typical of special needs adoptions, adoption agencies usually want to get special needs children into their adoptive homes as quickly as possible. The couple have not met the baby, but have seen a few photographs, most likely in the adoption referral.

One point I found very interesting and one I can relate to personally, as there is nothing else I have in common with a blonde, beautiful movie star, is the fact that Katherine Heigl knew that she wanted to be an adoptive parent one day and made that a point of discussion before saying, "I do."

I have always wanted to be an adoptive parent too and asked my husband if he was interested in the same before marrying. Most couples are counseled to discuss - finances, religion, and the idea of whether to parent or not. But how many of us think to ask about being an adoptive parent before getting married?

So - how many of you talked about adoption before getting married? Click "comments" below and share - yeah or nay.
