The Adoption Home Study Process

By , About.com GuideJuly 12, 2010

Follow me on:

Over the past several months our family has been contemplating adopting again. So, we started the adoption home study process and have been working with a social worker who has been in our home, interviewed us, gathered reference letters and then created a several page report reflecting our family's strengths and needs.

Though I've adopted before and been through the adoption process to adopt our sons, it was a foster care adoption, adopting foster children who were already n our home. It is a different feeling to go through the adoption home study process for unidentified children. It's a bit nerve wracking. What is or was the worst part of the adoption process for you and your family? The finger prints? The Interviews? The waiting?

I think we have been through the final edits and the report will be ready soon - then we will begin the next phase of the adoption process - waiting to be matched!

God bless you and your family, it’s wonderful!!! My husband and I are has been through our interview as well, now we be finger printed which will be $120. for the both of us total. This part I wish could be done differently. I wish the agency could have a special place set aside for this say within the agency for us to go to. But anyway were almost there. I am truly excited!!! we currently within my immediate family have (4) adoptee’s (3) of whom has grown up and now have children of there own.

Once again injoy your “conception” time your delivery is closer than you think. :)
