Update on National Adoption Day 2006
Thursday December 14, 2006
National Adoption Day was celebrated November 18, 2006. National Adoption Day focuses on the adoption of those thousands of children waiting in foster care for a permanent and loving home. This year was the biggest success yet with more than 3,300 children in foster care having their adoptions finalized. This was also the first year that National Adoption Day was celebrated in all 50 states, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico, more than 250 events were held nation wide.
I would love to hear from those who participated in one of these events. Click "comment" below and share!

I was the person that organized the activity in Puerto Rico. It was so great to see so many families gathering together and celebrating the blessing of adoption. This activity was organized by the San Juan Municipalityin colaboration with the First Lady of San Juan Irma Garriga and the Director of the Women Issues Office. This next year we will have a institution that will serve as a shelter for abused and neglected children and for adoption. This will be the first institution managed by the government of this type.
We are so glad to be a part of the National Adoption Day.
i was told that in Australia. their is no Adopition. you can only foster a child. even if you become carer. the real parents still have a say and vist the child any time thay want. Even if they mistreated that child. I am unable to have a child of my own. Not even the help of IVF.
We’re “celebrating” late this year- later today, our adoption worker is coming over to assist in the paperwork needed to begin the process in adopting our 19 month old foster daughter. It’s more like a Christmas blessing though! (We’re well versed in the process- this is adoption #3 for us).
Good luck with your newest adoption! What a great Christmas gift to your family.
