- We learned that for the third straight year in a row, the number of foreign children being adopted into American homes dropped by about 15 percent. This was probably due to the changes in Russian and Chinese adoption policies.
- By mid-December the US became an official member of the Hague Convention on Intercountry Adoption! The policies that are a part of the treaty are designed to protect children, birth parents and adoptive parents from corruption, child trafficking, and abduction. The treaty will enter into force on April 1, 2008. The State Department, the central authority for the US as part of the Convention requirements, sets ethical practices, makes sure children are cleared for adoption, and that birth parents have been properly counseled before choosing adoption.
- CBS presented The 9th Annual A Home for the Holidays which highlighted adoptive families and children residing in foster care who are in need of adoption. It was a tear jerking, hour long program.
- There were reports stating that Madonna's adoption was final and all was well in London. But, those were not completely true. The assessment reports on the family were positive and recommended that David stay with the family. It's was also reported that the process will take 18 months and another visit to the family's London home will occur sometime in February 2008. Oh, and Madonna is searching for a baby girl to add to her family.
