The month brought us Father's Day and the sharing of memories for the fathers in our lives, both birth, adoptive, and foster.

Adoption.com chose not to do business with the state of California after settling a 5 year lawsuit. Back in 2003, a gay couple, Michael and Rich Butler, sought to post a parent profile in the hopes of locating an expectant mother and were refused this service. Adoption Media, which houses both Adoption.com and Parent-Profiles.com, settled the lawsuit by agreeing to stop doing business in California. They could have maintained this part of the business, with California reportedly providing 10% of the Web site's customers, by allowing same-sex couples access to the site’s services, but instead chose to not provide the services to the sunshine state all together.

We kept getting teased about whether or not Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were adopting again. This time the rumors pointed to Prague, where Jolie was in the Czech Republic working on her newest film, Wanted.

I found some book marks at my local library that featured pictures of children needing adoptive homes. The blog brought a bunch of different perspectives on the situation. I still find it to be a bit weird.

24 disabled boys were found tied naked and laying on concrete floors in their won waste in a Baghdad orphanage. Some were near starving to death. The orphanage was well-stocked with food and brand new clothes, but it is believed that the caretaker, who was on the run, was selling the supplies at the local market. The children were taken to another orphanage recovering. We may never know the full story as only one of the boys was able to speak.
