The month began with news that a plan was announced that called for all intercountry adoptions between Guatemala and the US to be suspended on January 1, 2008. This was due to Guatemala's plan to be Hague Convention compliant on January 1, 2008 and will not work with any country that is a non-Hague member after December 31, 2007. The US was not compliant at that time.
We discovered that John Stamos would be interested in adoption as well as Blondie singer and adoptee, Deborah Harry. Madonna was told "no" by birth family when she approached the possibility of adopting a little girl in Africa.

Country singer, Rodney Atkins was named the new 2007-2008 National Celebrity Spokesperson of the year for the The National Council For Adoption.

November brought us National Adoption Month which focuses on adoption from the foster care system.

The Evan B. Donaldson Adoption Institute unveiled a new study For the Records: Restoring a Right to Adult Adoptees. It came from decades of experience and history from the adoption community within the United States. Many in the adoption community were excited for this study, and for good reason.

National Adoption Day, November 17, 2007, and RegDay, November were celebrated as part of National Adoption Month.

We read of Britney Spears filling out adoption paperwork. We so hoped it was just a rumor. We also read of Zahara Jolie-Pitt's birth mother coming back from the dead. The adoption agency, Wide Horizons for Children who handled the adoption, still say that the birthmother is dead. Do we have the right to discuss a child's adoption? Blog readers discussed. Some were disgusted.
