- November brought us National Adoption Month which focuses on adoption from the foster care system.
- National Adoption Day, November 15, 2008, and RegDay, November were celebrated as part of National Adoption Month.
- Gay adoption took a big hit after the U.S. elections.
- Nebraska state senators were hard at work by mid-November in a special legislative session to repair the state's new safe haven law which resulted in 34 children being left at hospitals across the state. Nebraska legislatures revised the new safe haven law limiting the age of infants that can be abandoned without prosecution to the parents to 30 days instead of age 18.
- Nia Vardalos and husband Ian Gomez adopted a little girl and kept it quiet in the press until November in order to use the attention to further the message of National Adoption Month.
- 20/20 interviewed an adoptive couple who were very open with their adoption of 3 older children from Russia. We talked about what we could learn from the Mulligan family.
