An Adoption Poem

The Promise

From Sharon Przybylski, for About.com

Mommy, where are you?
I can't see you anymore.
Please don't let them take us away.
Why did you let this happen?
You didn't do what you were suppose to do.
They don't love us, Mommy, Not like you did.
Why am I here, didn't you want us?
I called for you but you never came.
Didn't you hear me, Mommy?

My Angels, I am still here.
I never left you.
I never meant to hurt you.
I did the best I could.
I know how you feel, because I can feel your pain.
When you dream of me,
know that I am really there.
Still loving you, still missing you.
I will always be with you.
I Promise.

By Sharon Przybylski, a birth mother who wrote this poem to her two sons who were adopted 11 years ago.
