This little art project can be used as the front of a card or framed. Not only will this project be a gift from the heart, but a fun time with your foster/adopted child as you create it together as a gift for a birth parent.
Difficulty: Easy
Time Required: 20 Minutes Plus Drying Time

Here's How:

  1. Coat the bottom of your child's foot in yellow tempera paint.
  2. Place paper on floor and have child step on paper.
  3. Have child lift foot straight up. Have a wet paper towel or baby wipe handy for easy clean-up of the foot.
  4. Place paper with yellow foot print on table to dry. See the paint instructions for drying time.
  5. Position the paper so that the toes are pointing up. This will be the top of the chick. Right under the big toe and slight off center toward the outer part of the foot draw a black dot with crayon, marker, or paint. This will be the chick's eye.
  6. Next draw an orange triangle for the beak attached to the side of the foot under the eye.
  7. At the bottom of the foot coming off of the heel draw two upside down "y's" for the legs and feet.
  8. Decorate the scenery as desired. You may wish to include grass, chicken feed, a cracked open Easter egg, or a sky with clouds.
  9. Remember to date the picture and write the child's name and age.
  10. Frame or if making a card, fold and finish with the inside sentiment.

What You Need:

  • Yellow Tempra paint for the "chick"
  • Various crayons, markers, or paints for the eye, beak, legs, and background
  • Paper - any color you wish except yellow
  • Wet paper towel or baby wipe
  • Your child's bare foot
