Definition:
A child's original birth certificate when speaking about the topic of adoption, is the first birth certificate that lists the biological parents as mother and father. After an adoption the birth certificate is amended and names the adoptive parents as mother and father.
Many in the adoption community do not believe that amending a birth certificate is right and refer to it as a "legalized lie."
