Birth: Born on April 3, 1961 in Brooklyn, New York. His parents divorced when he was three years old. At the age of 8 his father died. Struggling with finances his mother was hospitalized.
Foster Care Experience: During the time his mother was in the hospital, Eddie (age 8) and his older brother spent a year in foster care. According to past interviews Eddie had a tough foster care experience.
Claim to Fame: Landed a spot on Saturday Night Live after graduating from high school. In 1982, his comedy album earned a Grammy nomination and went gold. Movies 48HRS and Trading Places were instant hits leading to more movies.
Fun Fact : Voice of the donkey in Shrek and Shrek 2. He's also the voice for the dragon in Disney's Mulan.
Quote: He told Barbara Walters in an interview: "I’m funny without narcotics. I don’t have to sniff cocaine to be funny." Referring to his choice to live free of tobacco, alcohol, and drugs.
