An Adoption Poem
What I Am

From Lisa Myers, About.com Guest

I start the day like every other
Smile on my face, an ache deep in my heart
Some days are wonderful
Some days are a struggle
I can't share my pain or maybe choose not to
People want to listen but they don't really understand
Chosen Child, is what I am

Unable to give myself completely
Unable to fill the void
The longing for answers lingers in my soul
I need to know, I need to feel whole
A chosen child, where my life began
Those words are etched onto my skin
Something special that I carry deep within
Chosen Child, is what I am
