According to the AFCARS - Adoption and Foster Care Analysis and Reporting System - 51,000 foster care children were adopted in FY 2006. The average age at adoption was almost 7.

  • Non-Relative - 15% - 7,646
  • Foster Parent - 59% - 29,997
  • Step-Parent - 0% - 36
  • Other Relative - 26% - 13,321
